Position Overview – Engineer, Mechanical Works
The Engineer, Mechanical Works role at L&T focuses on overseeing and coordinating mechanical systems related to metro infrastructure projects. This includes station services, ventilation, HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, and depot equipment installation.
Mechanical engineers in this role work closely with consultants, contractors, and site teams to ensure that all mechanical works are delivered on time, safely, and meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, firefighting, water supply, drainage, and ventilation across metro stations, tunnels, and depots.
- Review construction drawings, method statements, and material submittals for compliance with project specifications and relevant codes.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure strict adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Coordinate effectively with other teams including civil, electrical, and signaling departments for interface management to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks on mechanical equipment and installations to maintain high workmanship standards.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover processes for all mechanical systems installed.
- Assist in preparation and submission of daily and weekly progress reports, measurement books, and other essential project documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and third-party inspectors to monitor equipment delivery schedule and ensure quality assurance.
- Ensure all works comply with Indian Standards (IS codes), National Building Code (NBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and metro/railway-related standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.Tech/BE) preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience range: 3 to 10 years in mechanical works related to metro or large infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, water supply, and drainage system installations.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of safety standards, quality controls, and environmental requirements.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Work Location and Salary
- Location: Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India
- Salary Range: ₹3,00,000 to ₹9,00,000 per year (depending on experience and qualifications)
