Position Overview – Engineer, Design Engineering
The Design Engineer at Lennox will mainly focus on creating pattern designs using advanced Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. The role involves designing refrigeration and air conditioning products, ensuring they meet various criteria such as cost-effectiveness, manufacturability, serviceability, regulatory compliance, code requirements, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Design development for refrigeration and air conditioning products considering multiple factors including cost and safety.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Marketing, Sourcing, and Testing to transition products from design to manufacturing stages smoothly.
- Participate in critical design and manufacturing processes such as Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Production Part Approval Process (PPAPs), Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA), and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Review 2D and 3D design drawings for compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
- Lead design reviews and coordinate with all relevant departments to obtain necessary approvals.
- Develop concept designs related to sheet metal and plastic components using advanced engineering methodologies.
- Perform detailed redrawing, lettering, and tracing of drawings related to components, assemblies, and engineering changes.
- Suggest and implement design modifications to improve product quality and functionality.
- Ensure drawings feature all necessary design elements while maintaining product style and integrity.
- Exhibit flexibility and initiative to drive design activities with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Expert knowledge of CAD software and tools such as SolarEdge and Teamcenter.
- Experience in sheet metal and tubing manufacturing processes, including tooling and fixture design.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools like SAP and Teamcenter.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
