The Large Motors and Generators Division delivers a spectrum of AC motors and generators, general purpose to highly customized designs, serving critical sectors like power generation, marine, oil & gas, mining, and data centers. Role Overview
As Procurement Specialist, the primary responsibility is to purchase materials as per technical specifications and commercial requirements, ensuring strict adherence to the company’s policies and standards. This role provides a direct impact on ABB’s cost performance, quality, supplier development, and project execution.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Material Procurement: Purchase materials in line with technical specs, price targets, delivery schedules, and contract terms while complying with ABB’s global procurement policies.
- Supplier Management: Proactively identify new suppliers in coordination with category teams; conduct market research and evaluate supplier performance.
- Local Sourcing: Design, implement, and oversee strategies for local sourcing to fulfil business targets and cost-saving measures.
- Category Support: Assist Category Managers in the application and monitoring of procurement best practices and vendor management strategies.
- Cost Saving Initiatives: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (CFT) to drive cost-saving projects and value engineering activities.
- Approval Process: Track and facilitate the approval flow for New Product Development (NPD), alternate supplier components, and localisation projects.
- Technical Understanding: Interpret technical drawings, geometric tolerancing, and support audit processes to ensure compliance with specs.
- Logistics & Follow-up: Ensure timely processing of purchase orders, follow up with suppliers for delivery, and resolve any issues related to logistics, inventory, or quality.
- Reporting: Maintain transparent records on procurement activities and generate reports as per ABB’s global standards.
- Global Collaboration: Support global sourcing and process harmonisation initiatives as required, collaborating with international teams.
- Compliance & Ethics: Uphold ABB’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and strong governance practices in all procurement dealings.
Qualifications and Experience
