The Distribution Solutions Division, based in Nashik, is a pivotal part of ABB’s Electrification Business. Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Production Engineer in this role, you will have the opportunity to actively participate in the manufacturing process by conducting rigorous testing and inspections. This critical role ensures that every product manufactured complies with industry quality standards and ABB’s stringent internal guidelines.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Testing and Inspection: Execute defined testing protocols and inspections on products during the manufacturing cycle. This involves following test scripts and manuals carefully and using specialised equipment to evaluate product performance and safety.
- Workflow Adherence: Carry out assigned work according to agreed workflows and ABB standard operating procedures, ensuring conformity with safety and quality standards.
- Non-compliance Reporting: Report any deviations or non-conformance issues immediately to facilitate timely corrective actions.
- Pre-testing Physical Checks: Perform thorough physical pre-testing activities on newly developed products. Validate the manufacturing process to ensure consistency and product reliability before mass production.
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): Assist the team in conducting all necessary checks during FAT, ensuring the products meet contractual and regulatory requirements before dispatch.
- Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: When problems arise during testing or production, inspect and identify faults, analyse root causes, and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to implement corrective measures. This continuous improvement helps elevate product quality and process robustness.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed records of all testing activities, data logs, and inspection results. Ensure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and company quality management systems. This documentation is vital for audits and continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications and Experience
- Industry Experience: You should have 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in the production function within the switchgear manufacturing industry, particularly involving production planning, shift scheduling, and managing assembly lines.
- Educational Background: A Diploma in Electrical Engineering is essential, accompanied by proven experience in production engineering in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and operational experience in using SAP for production planning and resource management and proficiency in the MS Office suite are required. Familiarity with Power BI for data analytics is considered an advantage.
- Communication: Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively in English is necessary for documentation, reporting, and cross-functional coordination.
- Production Function Engagement: Experience and understanding of production workflows, quality checks, and safety compliance specific to switchgear manufacturing operations are crucial.
