Role Overview
The Financial Planning & Analysis Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting ABB India’s strategic financial management. Reporting directly to the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, the role requires a meticulous individual responsible for inspecting business performance against plans and forecasts, identifying areas for improvement, and driving financial discipline across the organisation.
The successful candidate will collaborate extensively with finance teams across various Divisions, Hubs, Countries, and business functions, ensuring the financial health of the organisation through rigorous analysis and reporting. This role is pivotal for strengthening the financial planning process and enhancing decision-making through accurate, timely, and insightful financial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Analysis: Lead detailed inspection of actual business performance versus plan and forecast, identifying deviations and recommending corrective actions to management for improving financial outcomes.
- Benchmarking: Conduct benchmarking exercises of key performance indicators (KPIs) against industry competitors and similar ABB business units. This helps position ABB India competitively and identifies opportunities to enhance efficiency and profitability.
- Financial Reporting and Month-End Closing: Manage month-end closing activities accurately and timely, ensuring all necessary financial data is captured and MIS reports are generated for respective business units and functions.
- Collaboration with Finance Teams: Work closely with financial professionals in various Divisions, Hubs, Countries, and functions to comprehend financial performance drivers, foster cross-functional cooperation, and ensure alignment with overall business goals.
- Overhead Analysis: Perform thorough inspections of overhead cost absorption, analysing under or over absorption, investigating root causes, and suggesting possible improvements to overhead management and cost control.
- Cost-Benefit Studies and Working Capital Management: Conduct cost-benefit analyses, examine inventory levels, and assess net working capital (NWC) to optimise capital utilisation and improve cash flows.
- Ad-hoc Reporting: Provide prompt and precise ad-hoc financial and operational reports as requested by the business or functions, supporting tactical and strategic initiatives.
- Organisation-wide Financial Planning: Contribute significantly to financial reporting, business planning, forecasting, regulatory compliance, and audits, maintaining strict adherence to accounting standards, policies, and statutory requirements.
- Financial Data Validation: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial data and business information by performing rigorous reconciliations and reviewing exceptions to maintain data integrity.

| Educational Background | Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting. CMA, CA, or MBA Finance qualifications are highly desirable |
| Analytical Ability | Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and derive actionable insights |
| Attention to Detail | Meticulous and detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy and quality in financial outputs |
| Communication Skills | Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluent in English for effective stakeholder engagement |
