Position Overview
The Central Indirect Purchase function at Tata Motors Pune is currently inviting applications for the role of Senior Manager – Capex & Indirect Material (IDM) Purchase. This is a senior leadership role (Level L5) responsible for managing capital expenditure and indirect material purchasing activities supporting various Tata Motors locations nationwide. The ideal candidate will have a strong automotive or engineering purchase background, combined with vendor management expertise and capabilities in cost optimisation.
This role is critical in ensuring streamlined purchasing procedures in alignment with the company’s sourcing council guidelines and organisational strategies. The candidate will work cross-functionally overseeing complex category requirements, supplier relationships, and process improvements to drive efficiency and value delivery in procurement operations.
Job Responsibilities
Key Result Areas (KRA’s) include but are not limited to:
- Timely processing of purchase requisitions based on established sourcing council standards and defined strategic frameworks.
- Managing multiple categories and cross-category requirements across all Tata Motors Limited (TML) locations.
- Preparation of should-cost analyses and cost estimates; developing new costing templates as required to boost procurement accuracy.
- Effective catalogue management encompassing discount structure finalisation and preparation of Annual Rate Contracts (ARC) for standard items sourced directly from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Active participation in group-level initiatives aimed at procurement aggregation, thereby leveraging economies of scale.
- Identification and implementation of cost optimisation opportunities such as scope reduction, alternative sourcing, and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).
- Rigorous adherence to vendor evaluation, rationalisation protocols with effective engagement of stakeholders.
- Monitoring vendor payments, managing retentions, and resolving open issues in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Leading and executing productivity enhancement and process improvement projects diligently within stipulated timelines.
- Ensuring compliance with Tata Motors’ Total Cost of Ownership (TCOC) guidelines and maintaining established audit controls.
- Supporting plant-level Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives and fostering team-building activities.
Educational Qualification and Experience
