Position Summary

The position of Senior Manager – BIW Manufacturing (Fixture Maintenance) is a leadership role that ensures the smooth functioning of the Weld Shop. The role is critical for maintaining Jigs, Fixtures, and Hemming Dies, which directly impact the structural accuracy of vehicle body assemblies. In addition, it requires ownership of Body Shell Dimension Integrity and resolution of next-customer concerns.

This role goes beyond preventive maintenance and involves root-cause analysis, in-house fixture correction, new project support, and implementation of poka-yoke mechanisms to achieve higher productivity and quality.

The role also involves extensive coordination with key teams such as Supplier Quality (SQ), Vehicle Quality (VQ), and Production Planning, making it highly collaborative. The individual must balance technical depth with leadership skills, ensuring not only operational targets but also team development and cross-functional alignment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Weld Shop Maintenance: Full responsibility for Weld Shop Jigs, Fixtures, and Hemming Dies, ensuring their uptime and accuracy.
  • Design and Preventive Maintenance: Oversee tools and jigs designing, conduct preventive maintenance activities, and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Dimension Integrity: Achieve and sustain body shell accuracy through detailed analysis of reports such as CMM, PIST, and CF. Carry out necessary fixture corrections internally and align with cross-functional teams for stable outputs.
  • Hemming Die Maintenance: Supervise Table Top Hemming Die maintenance activities with focus on long-term performance and consistency.
  • Next-Customer Issue Resolution: Take ownership of customer complaints/issues that arise at subsequent stages of manufacturing or testing, and drive quick resolution.
  • Error-Proofing (Poka-Yoke): Implement robust error-proofing systems along the line to minimise human or process errors, ensuring defect-free output.
  • New Project Support: Actively support new vehicle project launches by ensuring quick stabilisation of fixtures, thereby enabling faster First Saleable Output (FSO) delivery.
  • Standards and SOPs: Develop, implement, and maintain P0 Standards, PP Standards, and SOPs for new manufacturing projects.
  • Spare Management: Monitor and manage fixture spare parts inventory, ensuring availability for planned and unplanned maintenance.

The role demands independent decision-making on maintenance strategies, allocation of resources, and co-ordination across multiple functions with a clear emphasis on safety, quality, and delivery timelines.

Education, Skills & Experience Requirements
