Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified Plant Safety Manager to strengthen the Safety Management System at our Sanand plant. This role is a crucial part of our organizational framework, ensuring that operations not only comply with all applicable laws and statutory requirements but also foster a safety-first culture across the workforce.

The Safety Manager will act as a bridge between corporate governance requirements and practical implementation on the shop floor. The successful candidate will play a vital role in risk identification, regulatory compliance, preventive measures, and stakeholder engagement. By deploying both Corporate and Plant Safety Initiatives, the position strengthens Tata Motors’ long-term commitment to safeguarding employees, reducing operational risks, and shaping a positive reputation across the industry.

Key Responsibilities

The scope of this role goes beyond routine monitoring and extends to strategic engagement with safety systems and leadership teams. The key responsibilities include:

  1. Advisory Role to Plant Management
    • Provide expert guidance to factory leadership to ensure alignment with statutory safety requirements.
    • Help management in recognizing operational risks and developing mitigation strategies.
  2. Deployment of Safety Initiatives
    • Implement both Corporate-level programmers and Plant-specific safety action plans.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of these initiatives and recommend improvements for sustainability.
  3. Legal Compliance & Audit Preparation
    • Ensure compliance with the Factories Act, State Labor Laws, and Environmental Safety Guidelines.
    • Prepare the plant for statutory inspections, recertification processes, and external audits.
    • Assist in documentation and record management for legal reporting purposes.
  4. Prevention of Occupational Hazards
    • Conduct risk assessments of workplace processes, production lines, and equipment usage.
    • Create awareness programmes among employees to instill safety practices.
    • Ensure corrective and preventive measures are taken to mitigate potential hazards.
  5. Emergency Preparedness
    • Develop plant-wide emergency response plans, including fire safety drills, evacuation protocols, and crisis communication mechanisms.
    • Collaborate with external stakeholders like local authorities and emergency response agencies when required.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build credibility with internal and external stakeholders by ensuring transparent communication of safety measures.
    • Contribute towards positioning Tata Motors as a role model for responsible industrial practices through awards and recognitions.

Education & Work Experience

QualificationExperience Required
Degree in Engineering (any branch)Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
OR
Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety (Recognized by Govt.– RLI, CLI, State Board of Technical Education)Suitable for fresh graduates and experienced candidates alike

Additional technical knowledge of industrial processes, OSHA guidelines, ISO standards related to safety, and environmental compliance will be considered an advantage.
