The Packaging Engineer will focus on creating packaging solutions, conducting tests, and implementing designs that are functional, safe, cost-effective, and sustainable.
Caterpillar Hiring 2025 – Key Responsibilities
- Develop packaging solutions for products and parts with detailed specifications for suppliers.
- Approve packaging for assigned product lines while monitoring quality and transportation damage.
- Lead complex NPI/NSI projects involving over 1000+ parts, including heavy components (1000 Kg+).
- Conduct packaging specification reviews and sign-off with suppliers.
- Design outbound packaging solutions, ensuring approval with internal stakeholders and customers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for packaging implementation.
- Perform packaging cost analysis for complex supply chain scenarios across multiple suppliers and facilities.
- Run loop size analysis in multi-supplier and multi-facility supply chains.
- Identify and implement packaging cost-saving initiatives.
- Provide NPI project updates to Supply Chain and Purchase Managers.
- Manage packaging quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate supplier improvements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in packaging.
- Strong knowledge of packaging technology, materials, and design principles.
- Familiarity with testing methods, industry regulations, and packaging standards.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment.
- Awareness of sustainability practices in packaging.
