Role Overview

Tata Motors is looking for a Senior Manager – Advance Quality to strengthen its Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) function across automotive Chassis aggregates. The individual will be part of the core team ensuring high product quality and robust processes at the early development stage.

This position requires not only technical depth in Brake Systems, Steering Knuckle, and Brake Disc assemblies but also leadership skills to drive cross-functional teams. The selected candidate will engage with engineering teams, suppliers, and quality stakeholders to ensure Tata Motors’ standards of excellence are met consistently.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Manager – Advance Quality will be expected to take complete ownership of quality deliverables during product and process development. Major responsibilities include:

1. Product Quality Assurance
   • Establish robust quality standards across chassis systems like brake assemblies, steering components, and connected aggregates.
   • Review product designs from a quality perspective, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance compliance with industry standards.
   • Validate supplier parts to ensure they meet Tata Motors’ stringent specifications.
2. Process Quality Management
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) guidelines.
   • Support manufacturing plants in process validation, re-qualification, and corrective action implementation.
   • Identify potential failure modes (PFMEAs) and plan control systems accordingly.
3. Supplier Development
   • Work closely with tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers for continuous improvement on part quality.
   • Conduct supplier audits to assess process robustness, capability, and compliance with quality systems.
   • Guide suppliers to adopt best practices, ensuring long-term relationship development and consistent output.
4. Cross-functional Leadership
   • Collaborate with design, production, procurement, and R&D teams to ensure quality-driven solutions.
   • Lead corrective action review teams when non-conformance or quality issues arise.
   • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, instilling a culture of quality-first thinking.
5. Continuous Improvement
   • Drive initiatives for reducing defects, lowering warranty claims, and improving customer satisfaction.
   • Leverage new technologies like predictive analytics and digital quality management tools for proactive controls.
   • Initiate and manage projects focused on cost reduction without compromising quality standards.

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical/Automobile) from a recognised institute.
• Additional certifications in Quality Tools (Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans) will be considered advantageous.

Work Experience

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the automotive industry.
• In-depth exposure to Chassis systems, especially in the areas of Brake Systems, Brake Discs, and Steering Knuckles.
• Previous experience in quality assurance, supplier quality, or product validation roles is essential.
• Leadership experience in managing teams or cross-functional projects is a key requirement.
